A very musical week

I've had a fairly eventful week since returning from Japan. Although I have many pictures to post and more experiences to share I can't help but tell everyone that I've joined a band! Ha ha!

My running pals, Pirooz (guitar) and Lachy (bass) invited me to play the wooden turtle in their band. Another co-worker, Sarah also joined the band on vocals. On the first day I played the wooden turtle and some plastic shakers in the shape of eggs. I also got to try out the bass since Lachy was dying to try out the turtle. Yesterday and today I started playing the guitar.

I don't really know what I'm doing. Pirooz just tells me which notes to play and I play them. It feels very awkward, but it's so much fun! I'd say it's almost as fun as walking inside the largest wooden Buddha in Japan (yes, I did do this!).

Pirooz makes everything seem so easy. He's a very positive guy so he keeps telling me, "See you can play the guitar. It's so easy. There's another cord you just learned! You can play the guitar!"

In my mind I'm thinking, "Yeah, I can play the guitar. Why didn't I do this before?"

Oh, I also played the notebook because Lachy didn't show up with the turtle today.

There's been some discussion of purchasing an inexpensive drum set for me to play. I might also consider a cheap guitar and small amp. I'm not sure. It's all so new and exciting, but I'm always reluctant to purchase something big that will eventually have to be brought home. I mentioned it to Ajay and he's all for going guitar shopping.

When you become an international rock star, bringing the guitar home will pay for itself.

Yes, I agree. Being a rock star will be far more lucrative than being a writer, right? Right!
